Sarah P Psychology FAQ

Therapy Basics FAQ

What should I expect in our first session together?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will explore your history, your current concerns, and your goals for therapy. It's a safe space to ask questions and decide together how we can best support your journey.

How long does the therapeutic process usually take?

Therapy is a highly individual process. Some clients find short-term support (6-12 sessions) helpful for specific issues, while others benefit from longer-term work. We will regularly review our progress to ensure you feel supported for the duration that feels right for you.

How can therapy help with my specific concerns?

Therapy provides a structured path to understanding your patterns and building resilience. Through evidence-based approaches like CBT or EMDR, we can work to process trauma, manage anxiety, or foster greater self-compassion tailored to your life story.

Is our work together confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice. All information shared within sessions is kept private, adhering to the professional ethics and standards set by the HCPC and the British Psychological Society.

Logistics & Rates

Session Frequency

Consistency is vital for progress. Most clients attend weekly or fornightly, especially in the initial stages, to establish a safe rhythm and maintain therapeutic focus. I aim to be flexible though and work with your budget and time constraints so I will always discuss this to ensure you are happy with how often.

Individual sessions are 50 minutes long. Face-to-face sessions in Exeter are £85, while online sessions are offered at £80.

Therapy Duration

The length of therapy varies. Some clients find resolution in short-term work (6-12 sessions), while others benefit from long-term, deeper exploratory support.

Cancellation Policy

I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for a session cancellation. Sessions cancelled with less notice will be charged at the full agreed rate.
